First ever blog post and by the way…time’s a stinky beast

|

I can’t recall where I was or what I did on the day I turned 40. It’s been almost four years since that day. The only thought that might have crossed my mind was something like, ‘Fudge, I’m the same age as old people now!’ However, a part of me has always kept me blissfully oblivious to the awareness of age, so I didn’t really care. ‘Never let the old man in,’ you might say.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to accomplish so much more in the same amount of time as everyone else? Or why some people appear happier than most, even when facing challenges akin to Sisyphus rolling his boulder? If you, like me, are well into your fourth round and have been listening attentively to your cornermen, you’ve probably realized that you still have more questions than answers. You’re still scratching your head in wonder and likely thinking, ‘Something doesn’t quite add up,’ yet you’re compelled to keep stepping into the ring to roll with the punches. That’s the mark of a non-quitter. Keep at it, and sooner rather than later, you’ll find yourself celebrating victory or enduring a barrage of punches. There’s no absolute right or wrong here, as long as you persist and acknowledge that you’ve given it your all.

Notice how time slips through your fingers, much like water running through your hands. We can’t halt it; we can’t trap it to prevent it from escaping. Sometimes I find myself in the midst of a task and then realize it’s only the beginning of a long list of things I’ve set out to do. The day is nearly over, and I’m not even halfway through, and I’m already fatigued, cursing my impatience. Before I know it, my children have reached double digits in age. Time is a stinky beast; use it wisely.

Welcome to my blog, see you soon!
